Deputy Manager - Operations (Field & Delivery)

The Deputy Manager - Operations (Field & Delivery) is responsible for leading field delivery operations, customer site execution, transportation coordination, warehouse interface and service-quality governance on behalf of AIT. The role manages supervisors and field resources deployed at customer sites, airports, warehouses, distribution centers and project locations, ensuring safe, timely, compliant, and high-quality delivery execution.

The incumbent acts as the operational escalation point between customers, transport vendors, warehouse partners, customs brokers, airlines and internal operations teams. The role requires strong ownership of delivery KPIs, team supervision, exception management, vendor performance, customer communication, and continuous improvement in field operations.

• Field Delivery Operations Leadership - Plan, supervise, and monitor pickup, delivery, loading, unloading, and customer-site operations across assigned locations to ensure efficient and compliant service execution.
• AIT Site Representation - Act as the primary AIT representative at customer sites, ensuring adherence to customer instructions, site protocols, and agreed service standards.
• Team Supervision - Lead field supervisors and operational teams, ensuring effective resource deployment, productivity, professional conduct, and service delivery excellence.
• Transportation & Vendor Coordination - Coordinate with transport vendors, warehouses, drivers, customs brokers, airports, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operational execution and service continuity.
• White Glove & Project Delivery Management - Oversee high-value and specialized deliveries, ensuring safe handling, unpacking, positioning, installation support, and successful customer handover.
• Shipment Visibility & Exception Control - Maintain shipment visibility, milestone accuracy, and proactive communication while managing operational exceptions, delays, damages, and recovery actions.
• POD & Documentation Governance - Ensure timely collection, validation, and submission of PODs, delivery records, customer acknowledgements, and other operational documentation.
• Operational KPI & Service Quality - Drive performance against key metrics including on-time delivery, POD closure, service failures, damage prevention, and customer satisfaction.
• Customer Service & Escalation Management - Manage customer escalations, provide timely updates, and coordinate corrective actions to ensure high service levels and business continuity.
• Safety, Security & Compliance - Ensure compliance with safety standards, security protocols, customer requirements, regulatory guidelines, and AIT operating procedures.
• Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement - Lead root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvement initiatives to enhance service quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
• Vendor Development & Quality Assurance - Monitor vendor performance, support training initiatives, participate in audits, and drive continuous improvement to strengthen operational reliability and compliance.

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent degree in any field 
• 5-6 years in freight forwarding, transportation, delivery operations, field supervision, warehousing, or logistics operations. 
• Minimum 2-3 years supervising field executives, delivery teams, transport vendors or customer-site operations. 
• Inductry exposure - Freight forwarding, airfreight operations, last-mile delivery, white glove delivery, warehousing, project logistics, data-center / high-value cargo operations

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

• Field delivery and transportation operations management 
• Customer-site coordination and delivery supervision 
• White glove / high-value cargo handling awareness 
• Shipment tracking, milestone reporting, and POD governance 
• Team supervision, shift planning, and field resource deployment 
• Vendor, driver, warehouse, and handling-agent coordination 
• Issue resolution, escalation handling, and root-cause analysis 
• Safety, compliance, security, and customer-site protocol awareness 
• Documentation control and operational reporting 
• Working knowledge of Excel, Outlook, CargoWise or similar logistics systems preferred 

Preferred Certifications 

• CargoWise user training or equivalent logistics system training 
• Logistics / Supply Chain / Transportation certification 
• Safety and security awareness training 
• Dangerous Goods awareness training where applicable 
• Customer-site induction or white glove handling training where applicable
