Overview

The Senior Executive – Ocean Freight is responsible for managing end-to-end ocean export operations, ensuring seamless shipment execution, timely customer communication, and adherence to operational KPIs. The role supports pricing activities, carrier and vendor management, customer service excellence, and business growth initiatives while ensuring compliance with company procedures and customer-specific requirements.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage freehand, nomination, and locally sold ocean export shipments, including Break Bulk (BB), Out of Gauge (OOG), and standard containerized cargo.
  • Execute shipments from booking through final delivery in accordance with customer requirements, company SOPs, and operational standards.
  • Coordinate with the Ocean Manager and Pricing team to prepare accurate and timely quotations and RFQ responses for customers, agents, and intercompany stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with shipping lines, NVOCCs, customs brokers, transporters, overseas partners, and other vendors to ensure service continuity and competitive solutions.
  • Monitor booking placements, vessel schedules, shipment milestones, and operational performance to ensure timely execution and proactive issue resolution.
  • Liaise with customers and overseas offices to provide shipment updates, address service issues, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Support local sales teams in customer engagements, business reviews, pricing discussions, and the identification of growth opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, system updates, and operational data integrity throughout the shipment lifecycle.
  • Monitor shipment profitability, vendor costs, and service performance to support operational and commercial objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with customer SOPs, regulatory requirements, and AIT operational KPIs.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to operational excellence.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required to support business needs.

Other Skills We Hope to See:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent degree in Business Administration, Marketing and Sales, or a related field.
  • 3-5 Years of experience in a similar role. 
  • Understanding of global shipping markets, trade lanes, and ocean freight operations
  • High level of accountability, ownership, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze operational data, identify trends, and make sound business decisions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships across internal and external stakeholders.

  • Working knowledge of CargoWise preferred.
  • Understanding of DG (Dangerous Goods) and GDP requirements is advantageous
  • Basic understanding of country-specific regulations, compliance requirements, and risk mitigation practices
